Observations and sketches of the Deep Sky

Updates

28th June 2008: Links updated.

26th June 2008: Added NGC 6337 to Planetary Nebulae page.

19th June 2008: Amended 'Equipment' page.

17th June 2008: Added a couple more photos to my Texas Star Party 2008 article.

14th June 2008: Account and pics of the 2008 Texas Star Party added. Also updated Binocular Messier and 2008 Observing Sessions pages.

20th May 2008: Links updated. All new links marked *NEW LINK*

8th May 2008: Updated 2008 Observing Sessions

13th April 2008: Added Hickson 57 (Arp 320) with MAC 1137+2202, Arp 63 and Arp 129 with MCG+6-21-72, NGC 2976, NGC 3077, NGC 3226+3227 (Arp 94) along with MAC 1023+1954, NGC 7331 and NGC 7335 to Galaxies and M42/43 to Nebulae. Updated Hickson 40 and Hickson 55.

8th April 2008: Messier binocular page updated. Continued to add pages for objects in the category Nebulae. Updated 2008 Observing Sessions.

6th April 2008: Have started to give the objects and observations their own pages, complete with sketch and other information, rather than have just the link to the JPEG of the object's sketch which usually contains no descriptions. So far the Globular Clusters page has been done, as have some of the objects on the Nebulae page and the others will follow shortly, probably over the next few days. I also have some new objects to add.

I have put in an account, originally written in 1998, of my trip Down Under to Australia I made, to see the southern skies, in 1997. It's a copy-and-paste job from my old site and, as such, not re-written.

2nd April 2008: Updated '2008 Observing Sessions' and also changed templates from the current design then back to it again to try and solve the problem of part of the template design vanishing. It seems to have worked for now.

15th February 2008: Updated 2008 Observing Sessions.

7th February 2008: New picture on front page.

6th February 2008: Because Freewebs wouldn't let me do more to this site, I've had to fork out for a premium paid account. I decided to stay with Freewebs as I didn't want to - yet again - change the URL of the site or waste an entire evening rebuilding it and re-uploading everything to another host. At least the crappy ads are now gone. Updated binocular Messier page.

3rd February 2008: Added '2007 Observing Sessions' and '2008 Observing Sessions' pages

3rd September 2007: Threw in a mugshot on intro page

1st September 2007: Stock 23 and Trumpler 2 added to open clusters page

26th August 2007: New links added. Added page about my favourite deep sky books.

25th August 2007: Double stars page added.

20th August 2007: Some new sites added to 'Links' page. NGC 2359 and Herbig-Haro 555 added to nebulae page.

17th August 2007: Uploaded page about ongoing project to observe all the Messier Objects through 8x42 binoculars.

16th August 2007: Some galaxies added to the relevant page: M51 M81 M82 M95 M96 M101 M108 M109 NGC 404 NGC 891 Arp 63 Arp 94 Arp 129 Arp 137 Arp 232 Hickson 40 Hickson 55 Hickson 57 Hickson 61. Links on links page now active.

15th August 2007: Site uploaded onto new server, with new host and being rebuilt. On the previous host, the site kept being infiltrated by spyware and viruses so hopefully that will now not be a problem. The URL has changed as I had to leave the domain name but that will be back (I hope) at a later date. Some links now live, plus globular cluster, open cluster, planetary nebulae and nebulae pages now finished. However, just the sketches are here for now, descriptions, etc, will follow at a later date.
